The 2023 season ended in very familiar fashion to 2022, with a loss in the Division Series to the Phillies last fall.

Now don’t let that take away from the season Atlanta had. They won another division title with a 104-58 record. Couple that with the emergence of Spencer Strider as a dominant ace on the staff, setting a franchise record for K’s in a season.

Then there was Matt Olsons’ franchise record for Home runs, and a ridiculous 40-70 season by reigning MVP Ronald Acuna, no wonder expectations are high as the Braves arrive to camp this Spring.

Like with any team their are questions:

1. Is there enough depth in the rotation?

2. Who will be the left fielder?

3. What about the bullpen?

If Atlanta can find positive answers to at least 2 of these questions there is no reason to think they won’t be right in the mix come October. With the addition of Chris Sale and Jarred Kelenic, who both come with risk, especially injury prone Sale.

Let’s face it the pressure has been somewhat lessened by the fact that the Dodgers are the heavy favorite to not only win the National League Pennant, but the World Series in 2024.

With that said the expectations will definitely be there to win another division title and possibly be the team to stand toe to toe with the mighty Dodgers come October.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
