According to multiple sources, including my own source on campus, the Ohio State Buckeyes have fired men’s basketball head coach Chris Holtmann.
According to a source, the conversation “got heated” at one point, and the phrase “too much f****** money on f****** football!” was heard, though nobody can confirm who actually said it.
Holtmann became only the 14th in the history of the men’s basketball program on June 9th, 2017.
He replaced Thad Matta, who left the team due to heatlh concerns.
In his seven seasons at the helm of the Ohio State basketball program, he amassed an overall record of 137-86, with a conference record of 67-65.
The Buckeyes are currently 13th in the Big Ten, with an overall record of 14-11, and 4-10 in the Big Ten Conference.
Holtmann’s buyout for being fired, means that Ohio State will pay him the remainder of his salary, which is roughly around $12.5 million dollars.
