Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski—The Knicks are lodging a complaint with the NBA over their 105-103 defeat to the Rockets on Monday. Both the NBA’s Last Two Minute report and crew chief Ed Malloy have admitted that the foul call on Jalen Brunson, which led to Aaron Holiday’s two crucial free throws, was incorrect.
An NBA team must submit a protest to the league office within 48 hours and provide evidence of the protested action within five days. Following this, the league office has an additional five days to reach a decision.
While the Knicks and Rockets won’t face each other again this season, the hope is to win the protest and arrange an overtime period to finish the game. Only six protests in league history have been upheld.
I know what you’re thinking, why is this one game so important?
Put simply, it’s time to make the playoff push for the top teams in the league. The Knicks are currently positioned with the 4th seed for the Eastern Conference, with a 33-21 record. One game could be the difference between a 3rd seed and a 4th seed.
That’s why it matters! With only 28 regular season games left, and the playoffs on the line, every game counts.
Up next the fourth place New York Knicks travel to Orlando on Wednesday, looking to snap the losing streak against the Magic.
