The New York Knicks have traded for Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks from the Detroit Pistons, sending guards Evan Fournier, Quentin Grimes, Malachi Flynn, Ryan Arcidiacono, and two future second-round picks in return, according to sources close to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
With injuries affecting Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, and OG Anunoby, the Knicks aim to strengthen their rotation by adding two experienced players who can contribute immediately.
Bogdanovic, aged 34, brings an average of 21 points per game and a 43% shooting rate from beyond the arc. He will fill in as the team’s starting power forward during Randle’s absence, offering versatility in scoring and shooting to support All-Star Jalen Brunson and provide additional firepower off the bench once the injured players return.
Additionally, he holds a contract for next season with a partial guarantee, affording the Knicks the flexibility to retain Bogdanovic on the roster or explore other options based on their salary cap situation.
Meanwhile, Burks, aged 32, previously played for the New York Knicks during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons before joining the Pistons. During his time with the Knicks, he averaged 12.7 points in the first season and 11.7 points in the second. In his 43 appearances for Detroit this season, Burks has maintained an average of 12.6 points per game while shooting 40% from beyond the arc on 5.7 attempts per game.
