The coaching carousel has finally hit the Cleveland Browns, and it’s a hellava loss for us.

It has been confirmed by multiple sources including Mary Kay Cabot, that Browns offensive line coach Bill Callahan will be leaving the team and joining the Tennessee Titans coaching staff.

Bill’s son Brian Callahan is the new head coach of the Titans.

This is a once in a generation opportunity for both father and son, so while it hurts us Browns fans, we understand the decision.

Bill Callahan is regarded as one of the best offensive line coaches in the history of football, including college and professional.

He started his coaching career as an assistant, at the University of Illinois in 1980. He stayed with the Illini until the end of 1986.

He became the offensive line coach at Northern Arizona University in 1987. He was there for two seasons.

He became the offensive coordinator at Southern Illinois for ome season in 1989.

He took an offensive line’s coaching job at the University of Wisconsin in 1990 and stayed there through the 1994 season.

The Philadelphia Eagles hired him as their offensive line from 1995 to 1997.

In 1998, the Oakland Raiders hired him as their offensive coordinator. He was promoted to the Head Coach position of the Raiders, and held that job for two seasons, from 2002 to 2003.

After being fired by the Raiders, he became the Head Coach at the University of Nebraska from 2004 to 2007.

He was fired from Nebraska, despite rebuilding the Cornhuskers when it came to recruiting and having a 27-22 record.

Which included their first ever Big-12 North Division Title and bowl victories over ranked teams Michigan and Texas A&M.

He went on to become the offensive line coach and assistant head coach with the New York Jets from 2008 through 2011.

He became the offensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys in addition to OL duties from 2012 through 2014.

He then was with the Washington Redskins for five years from 2015 through 2019. He served as offensive line coach, offensive coordinator, and as the Redskins Interim Head Coach after Jay Gruden was fired in 2019.

He then came to our beloved Cleveland Browns, where he was the offensive line coach from 2020 until February 1st of 2024.

Under his stewardship, the Browns have had a Top Three ranked offensive line, in every single season since he came onboard.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
