On Wednesday afternoon, Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic, reported that the San Diego Padres and Wandy Peralta, have agreed to a four year deal worth $16.5 million, including three opt outs in the contract.

Peralta has been in the league for eight years, playing with the Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, and New York Yankees. He has a career record of 19-18, a 3.88 ERA, 385 appearances (starting in one game), 13 saves, 345.2 innings pitched, 157 walks, and 291 strikeouts.

In the 2023 season, Peralta played with the New York Yankees, making 63 appearances, having a record of 4-2, a 2.83 ERA, 4 saves, 54.0 innings pitched, 30 walks, and 51 strikeouts.

With the Padres losing Josh Hader to the Houston Astros, Peralta could fill in the closing role for the team if they do decide to go that direction.

Are Padres fans happy about the future of the bullpen with the former Yankee reliever now being added to the team (pending a physical). Let us know on X @WeLikeSportzPC what you think?
