Another week down, another week closer to announcing the MVP for the 2023-2024 NBA season.

Let’s see where we’re at so far.

Currently, last seasons MVP, Joel Embiid (76ers) sits at number 1. As of right now, Embiid’s average is 36 PTS, 11 REB, and 5 AST per game. Embiid has had 21 consecutive games with over 30 points and has become the ninth player in the NBA to have a 70 point game.

Coming in second, last year’s NBA champ, Nikola Jokic (Nuggets). Jokic is dominant on the court, and last year’s NBA Title proves that. Currently Jokic’s stats average at 26 PTS, 11 REB, 9 AST per game. Jokic has also had 13 triple-doubles this season as well.

In third, we have Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder). Shai currently averages 31 PTS, 5 REB, and 6 AST per game. Shai has definitely proven himself this season as an MVP candidate. In the last few weeks of the season, he’s moved up the MVP ladder.

Onwards to fourth place, is Giannis Antetokounmpo (Bucks). Antetokounmpo’s current game averages are 31 PTS, 11 REB, and 6 AST. Antetokounmpo accomplished a career high and franchise record game this season with 64 points. Giannis has previously won the MVP title in 2019 and 2020.

And lastly, coming in 5th place is Jayson Tatum (Celtics). Tatum jumped to the 5th spot this week. Tatum is holding strong averaging, 27 PTS, 8 REB, and 4 AST per game. So far this season Tatum’s highest scoring game came in at 45 points.

I think it’s safe to say that the MVP potentials are dominated by some great players, who know how to handle the ball, and get it to the basket. But it’s only week 14 of the season, anything can happen!
