Tim Tszyu is scheduled to face Keith Thurman on March 30 in Las Vegas. This match will mark the headline event of PBC’s inaugural pay-per-view under its fresh partnership with Amazon’s Prime Video. Despite Tszyu holding the WBO junior middleweight title, the organization opted not to endorse the bout.

The fight will occur at a 155-pound catchweight, with the championship not up for contention, according to sources.

In 2023, Tszyu (24-0, 17 KOs) had significant wins, including a ninth-round TKO against former titleholder Tony Harrison, a first-round knockout against Carlos Ocampo, and a unanimous decision win over Brian Mendoza. Following his triumph over Mendoza in October, the 29-year-old Australian expressed his intention to continue competing in the United States.

Tszyu, the son of Hall of Fame boxer Kostya Tszyu will begin his campaign for state-side recognition with his most prominent adversary yet in Keith Thurman, a former unified welterweight champion regarded as one of the top 147-pound fighters of the past decade.

Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs), aged 35, has encountered only one defeat in his career, against the legendary Manny Pacquiao in July 2019. Despite being knocked down in Round 1, Thurman rallied and narrowly lost via split decision. Thurman owns quality decisions over Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia in 2016 and ’17, respectively.

After a hiatus of 25 months, Thurman will make his comeback by taking on Tszyu, who ESPN ranks as the No. 2 boxer in the 154-pound category.

Tszyu had initially aimed to contest Jermell Charlo for the undisputed junior middleweight championship last January, but Charlo withdrew due to a hand injury. Subsequently, Tszyu won the WBO’s interim title, later being promoted to regular champion status after Charlo was stripped of the title.

This is the inaugural event for the partnership inked last October between PBC and Amazon Prime. Also on this multi-title fight card are the following fights:

  • WBA 140-lb Champ Rolando “Rolly” Romero vs. Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz
  • WBA 160-lb Champ Erislandy Lara vs. Michael Zerafa (Mandatory defense)
  • WBC 154-lb Sebastian Fundora vs. Serhii Bohachuk for the interim title.
