Multiple sources including ESPN and others have confirmed that former Alabama star safety Caleb Downs has committed to transferring to Ohio State.
Down led the Crimson Tide in total tackles last season with 107. He was the first true freshman in the history of the football program to do so.
He added 2 interceptions, 3 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery as well.
The 6’0, 203 lbs safety was a 5-star recruit coming out of Hoschton, Georgia, in last years’ recruiting cycle.
Downs has 3 years of football eligibility left and will be a Day 1 starter in defensive coordinator Jim Knowles scheme.
This is a big acquisition for Ohio State, as last season’s starting safety Josh Proctor is off to the NFL.
