New York—The New York Knicks trade RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to the Toronto Raptors and getting back OG Anunoby, a person with knowledge of the deal said Saturday.

The Knicks also get Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn, the person told The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity because the trade is not yet official.

The trade was first reported by ESPN.

Interesting trade for the New York Knicks. Giving up offensive firepower with Barrett and Quickley but gaining defensive strength with Anunoby, who led the league in steals last season. Achiuwa and Flynn are valuable additions too. It’ll be intriguing to see how this impacts the team dynamics.

Anunoby is expected to seamlessly take over Barrett’s position in the Knicks’ starting lineup. The 6-foot-7 swingman maintains an average of 15.1 points and showcased his highest-scoring performance of the season, scoring 29 points, during the Raptors’ visit to the Knicks on Dec. 11.

Barrett maintains an average of 18.2 points, but he has faced recent challenges with his outside shooting, hitting just 2 of 12 attempts from 3-point range in the last two games. As the No. 3 pick in the 2019 draft, he played a pivotal role in the Knicks reaching the playoffs twice in the last three seasons, marking a significant improvement after a seven-season playoff absence.
