Las Vegas—On Thursday evening the Stanley cup champions got back to what they do best… Winning. VGK (22-10-5) snap 4-Game Losing Streak Against Top-Rated LA Kings(20-8-4) defense.
It’s our culture to be winning in this building,” Knights forward Paul Cotter said. “I think this is the start, hopefully, of a nice little streak going here.”
Logan Thompson redeemed himself with 32 saves, leading the Vegas Golden Knights to a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings and breaking a four-game losing streak.
Goals from Jack Eichel, Michael Amadio, and William Karlsson propelled Vegas to a victory, with all goals coming during the first two periods. The Golden Knights, who had struggled, managed to secure the win after losing five of their last six games overall.
Coach Bruce Cassidy expressed dissatisfaction with his goaltenders following the loss to Anaheim. The goaltending position has faced significant challenges due to injuries for the second consecutive season.
Adin Hill, boasting a 10-2-2 record with a 1.93 goals-against average, has been sidelined since November 30 due to a lower-body injury. Thompson, an All-Star in his rookie season last year, has dealt with injuries, leading to changes in his presence in the lineup.
“I think mentally this was the toughest month of my career,” Thompson said. “Just taking a step back and being grateful I’m in the NHL. I don’t know how long I’m going to be in the NHL and how long I’ll be a Vegas Golden Knight, but I come to the rink every day with a smile on my face.”
This was the second road loss for the Kings, who are 13-2-1 on the road this season.
Ben Hutton, a defenseman for the Knights, was sidelined for the last two periods due to an upper-body injury. In a defensively focused first period with limited opportunities, Eichel capitalized on a small opening. Ivan Barbashev provided a cross-ice pass to Eichel, who successfully scored against Talbot from the left circle. Eichel’s point total now stands at 40 in 37 games.
Amadio netted a goal on a fast break following a pass from Pavel Dorofeyev, while Karlsson secured his 15th goal from the slot after receiving a pass from Cotter stationed behind the goal line. Cotter has 4 points in the last four games.

At 13:07, Kopitar scored his 14th goal for LA, assisted by Adrian Kempe, who notched his 20th assist. Kopitar has accumulated 32 points in 32 games, while Kempe has 31.
Midway through the third period, Kevin Fiala netted a goal from the left point, but it was nullified due to goaltender interference by Moore. However, Moore redeemed himself by scoring his 17th goal of the season on a 6-on-5 with 1:59 left in the game.
