Chicago—Wednesday night, Connor Bedard scored his second goal during a tense overtime at the 2:15 mark, propelling the Chicago Blackhawks(11-22-1) to a 2-1 victory past the Winnipeg Jets(20-9-4).

Bedard, the top-scoring NHL rookie, delivered a wrist shot beneath the glove of Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck, marking his first overtime goal and his 15th of the season. This lead Chicago to a second victory in eight games.

The 18 year old center has three goals in his last two games and extended his points streak to five games.

Morgan Barron scored Winnipeg’s lone goal. Hellebuyck finished with 23 saves in the night.

At just over 4 minutes left in the first period Connor Murphy had possession of the puck along the right boards, passing to Bedard in the right circle for a one-timer. Although Hellebuyck made the initial stop, Bedard followed through, charging to the net and capitalizing on the rebound.

In the second period, the Jets regained control, with Barron notching the tying score at 3:47. Barron found the back of the net between Mrazek’s pads, on cross-ice pass from Axel Jonsson-Fjallby

Mrazek was forced to showcase his skill throughout the period, with Winnipeg dominating shots 14-7. One notable save included a close-in glove stop on Nikolaj Ehlers with just over 6 minutes remaining. In the scoreless third period, Dominic Toninato, in his season debut for Winnipeg, hit the post midway through. The Blackhawks successfully defended against against a power-play with 2:56 left in regulation.

Up next the Blackhawks are at Dallas to face off against the Stars on Friday. The Jets host Minnesota on Saturday.
