Oklahoma City—On Wednesday night, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams both contributed 36 points, with Williams making two crucial 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. The Oklahoma City Thunder(20-9) cruised to a 129-120 victory against the New York Knicks(17-13), and Chet Holmgren added 22 points for OKC.
Williams made a significant impact in the fourth quarter, scoring 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting. New York closed the gap to 111-106 after a basket by Jalen Brunson with 4:37 remaining.Williams responded, going on a 10-2 run. This included eight points and two three-pointers.

“Just shooting open shots,” Williams said. “Trying to pick my spots a little more carefully. Me and Chet had a really good two-man thing going on, two-man action, for a lot of those plays. The game’s easier when you make shots, so I was able to hit a couple and that allowed me to be able to drive and opened up things for Chet to have space to do his thing as well.”
New York’s Julius Randle scored 25 points, hitting 10 free throws, while Brunson contributed 24 points on 9-of-19 shooting. Immanuel Quickley added 22 points off the bench as the Knicks, with a 41% field goal percentage, made 24 of 30 free throws. The Knicks had 18 turnovers. Which led to 21 Thunder points.
“I thought our turnovers hurt us and some of that is they’re coming after the ball,” Thibodeau said. “Sometimes, if you’re not getting a call, you can get frustrated that way. But I thought the rebounding was good enough. The turnovers put them in the open floor, so it gave them a cushion.”
The Thunder made 16 of their initial 25 shots, including 6 out of 8 from beyond the arc, securing a 38-25 lead by the end of the first quarter. Although their lead extended to 17 points in the second quarter, the Knicks narrowed the gap with a 16-4 run, bringing the score to 50-45 after Immanuel Quickley’s 3-pointer with 5:30 remaining.
Before the half, Gilgeous-Alexander(SGA) helped OKC extend its lead to 69-58 with a three-point play. The Thunder maintained a 69-60 lead at the break.
During the third quarter, Randle played a key role in the Knicks’ comeback, adding nine points in a stretch where his team scored 11, tying the game at 83-83. In response, SGA scored four consecutive points, including a layup after a steal. Despite being outscored 29-24 in the quarter, Oklahoma City had already done enough. Final score Knicks 122, Thunder 129.
