New York— Christmas day, Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks(17-12) finally put their foot down!
On the Christmas stage, in front of a packed home crowd and a national TV audience, the New York Knicks made a statement against Milwaukee.
The Knicks had lost nine consecutive matchups to the Bucks(22-8), including a 130-111 defeat on Saturday in the first game of this two-game series. Despite the Bucks dominating New York twice in December, they struggled against Brunson throughout the season, and this time, the point guard received substantial support from his teammates.
Jalen scored 38 points as the Knicks snapped Milwaukee’s seven-game winning streak.
Julius Randle contributed 24 points and nine rebounds. RJ Barrett recovered from a subpar performance on Saturday, scoring 21 points, while Quickley came off the bench to add 20 points.
“They’re a good team. We feel like we’re a good team as well, so just kind of taking that challenge, accepting that challenge that we hadn’t got them yet,” guard Immanuel Quickley. “It had been a while, so this was a good one to get.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo had 32 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists. Damian Lillard also contributed 32 points for the Bucks, whose record this month dropped to 9-2. Khris Middleton also chipped in with 24 points.
“We knew coming in everything that we were lined up for and it is what it is,” Lillard said. “We got the first one, we came in for this one, they got off to a good start, they played a great game and we just got outplayed.”
Brunson recorded a 15-for-28 shooting performance from the field, continuing his impressive streak with previous games of 45 and 36 points against the Bucks this season. Isaiah Hartenstein contributed 11 points and eight rebounds, while Josh Hart came off the bench, scoring 10 points and grabbing nine boards.

The Knicks played Knicks basketball, and kept the energy where it needed to be, as a fan I was happy with that.
Up next the Knicks travel to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder.
