Los Angeles—Lebron James tallied his 3rd straight triple-doubles vs the Knicks. James posted 25 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists to notch his seventh all-time triple-double against the Knicks.
But was it enough? No. On Monday night, Jalen Brunson contributed 11 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter, helping the New York Knicks(15-11) get the win 114-109 against the Los Angeles Lakers(15-12) even though LeBron James had his 109th career triple-double.
On This latest trip west, the Knicks went 2-2.
Julius Randle continued to play well, scoring 27 points, and grabbing 14 rebounds. Immanuel Quickley added 20 points to help the Knicks fend off a late rally from the Lakers, led by James.

“We took a step forward tonight, and we’re going to try to keep moving forward,” Brunson said. “We’re learning how to bounce back, but we’ve got to continue to stack wins. You can’t be comfortable after just one. Keep stacking them, keep being resilient and just stick together.”
The Lakers suffered their third loss in four games. James’ had impressive performance of 25 points, 11 assists, and 11 rebounds. Anthony Davis contributed 32 points and 14 rebounds, but Los Angeles couldn’t take advantage of multiple opportunities to close the gap late in the game.
“It’s very rare we get outscored in the paint, and (the Knicks) were very deliberate in trying to play downhill, get to the paint, but just constantly coming at you,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said. “I felt like they caught us standing a little bit.”
In the first half, Randle had 16 points against his old team. Brunson added three 3-pointers in a well-rounded performance, helping New York, in a bounce back win after a Clippers loss two nights earlier.
Isaiah Hartenstein came in off the bench when Knicks big man Jericho Sims sprained his ankle early on against the Lakers. Hartenstein had 9 points and 17 rebounds in 39 minutes for the Knick. Sims joins Mitchell Robinson on IR list after Monday’s injury.
