The “injury bug” has taken a giant chunk of flesh out of the Browns butt, since the season started.

Starting Pro-Bowl RT Jack Conklin didn’t even make it to halftime of the first game of season, before he was lost for the year.

“All world” and Pro-Bowl HB Nick Chubb went out for the season in the second game of the season, on a dirty hit (my opinion) by Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

It just continued to snowball from there. With injuries to starting QB Deshaun Watson, starting WR Amari Cooper, S Rodney McLeod, and on and on.

It’s now the home stretch for the 2023-24 NFL season, and the Browns are right in the thick of the AFC playoff race, despite all the injuries.

Sitting at 7-5 and currently hold the final wildcard spot.

Sunday’s game against the 8-4 Jacksonville Jaguars, who currently hold the #4 spot in the playoffs, is big.

The good news is that a some of the injured players for Cleveland, could come back and play on Sunday and beyond.

Pro-Bowl CB Denzel Ward could finally get back on the field. He’s currently listed as “questionable” with a shoulder injury. He’s been improving each day. Ward covers the opponents #1 WR all game long. He’s a vital part not just to the secondary, but to the whole defense.

Rookie CB Cameron Mitchell is eligible to come back. He’s been on IR with a hamstring issue and is listed as “questionable”. He’s proven his versatility already, being able to play outside corner as well as the inside nickel slot.

Starting LT Jedrick Wills Jr is also eligible to return on Sunday as well. He’s been out with a knee injury.

Backup QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson could return from concussion protocol. Would he start over recently signed veteran, Joe Flacco, who played quite well against the loss to the Rams?

The Browns MUST win at least 3 of the last 5 games (JAX, CHI, @HOU, NYJ, @CIN), to have a legitimate chance at the making the playoffs in a very tough AFC Conference.

Getting these players back, would most definitely help, and add a much-needed morale boost, to a team that has lost their last two straight games, by 17 points each.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
