Just one day, after the #7 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes found out they’ll be playing in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic; they’ve lost their starting quarterback.

QB Kyle McCord has announced that he’s entered his name into the transfer portal on Monday morning.

He did not give a “reason” for his decision to leave. He did thank the coaching staff and the fans for their support, during his time in Columbus.

The third-year player from Philadelphia, PA won the starting job this season over Devin Brown, after sitting behind NFL 1st Round Draft Pick, and Offensive Rookie of the Year front runner C.J. Stroud for 2 seasons.

McCord was personally recruited out of high school, by Ohio State Head Coach Ryan Day himself, as the #31 overall prospect and was a 4-star recruit in the 2021 class.

McCord threw for 3,170 yards, with 24 TDs and only 6 INTs. He completed 65.8% of his passing attempts this season.

The loss of McCord makes the quarterback position wide open for incoming 5-star recruit Air Noland. The 6’3″, 175 lbs, QB out of Fairborn, GA is one of only four “5-stars” at that position this year.

Could he be the new heir apparent for the Buckeyes?
