Another week in the books adds confusion to the AFC playoff picture.

The Ravens are leading the conference standings by half a game. A win by the Chiefs at the Raiders could put them back on top. The Jags, Dolphins and Browns are right behind them. Who is top dog after week 12?

Let’s start with the elephant in the room. The Kansas City Chiefs. They took care of the Dolphins without too much trouble but fell to the Eagles with an underwhelming 2nd half offensive performance. They are moving the ball but they aren’t scoring enough.

If they clean it up everything will come together but WILL they? At this point in the season it’s hard to believe they will. However their schedule going forward isn’t the toughest IF they can make it through with only 1-2 more losses they have a shot at the one seed. They need to clean up the offense to have a chance at a good playoff run though.

Next lets look at the Ravens. They have been tearing it up against most teams. Their offense is top 2 and their defense it top 3. They have potentially tough games coming up against the Jaguars, the 49ers and the Dolphins later in the season.

If they can win two of the three that puts them in a good position to really go somewhere.

The Jaguars are an enigma this year. Beating the Bills getting stomped by the 49ers, who are they really?

Well they have a division game against the seemingly up and coming Texans, and they also still have to play the Ravens and the Browns.

Those games might give us a better idea on the Jaguars chances.

The Dolphins have unstoppable offense, except when it’s not. They have the highest ranked offense in the league but it looks mediocre vs good defenses.

They still have to play the Cowboys and Ravens and the Bills might be a match for them as well.

They need to put up a W in one if not two of those games to be considered a real threat in post season.

Finally we get to the Browns. They have a great defense but their offense has been questionable and now they have lost their starting quarterback. They put away the Steelers but it was close, at home and the Steelers aren’t great on offense either.

The good news is the toughest teams they have left are likely the Jaguars and the Texans. We’ll see how their offense performs without Watson and if their defense is enough.

The AFC is still the Chiefs’ to lose for now (if not in name) but if they can’t clean up the offense the Ravens are a VERY real threat and I wouldn’t write the other teams off just yet either.

It’s definitely not the dominance the Chiefs enjoyed last season. a matchup between the Ravens and the Chiefs in post season would be very interesting to say the least.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
