Sources confirmed to ESPN that Star pitcher Aaron Nola is reuniting with the Phillies in a seven-year, $172 million deal. Although the team has yet to confirm, the agreement is pending a physical.

Nola, 30, who has finished twice in the top five for the Cy Young Award, showcased his talent in the 2023 postseason. Bouncing back from a challenging regular season.

Despite a 4.46 ERA last year, he still threw 193⅔ innings, struck out 202 and walked 45. Not to mention his strong postseason performance, along with positive indicators like a 5.7% walk rate and a 34.7% chase rate, suggest promise for the future. All of which is reflected in the size of this contract.

Known for durability, Nola has been a reliable presence on the mound since his 2015 debut, with 235 starts for the Phillies. His desire to return to Philadelphia was expressed after the team’s 2023 NLCS loss.
