According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Field Yates, the Cleveland Browns are signing veteran QB Joe Flacco.
The plan is to sign him to the practice squad and then move him up to the active roster.
The signing of Flacco will provide much needed depth to the QB position.
It will also provide a veteran and championship voice in the locker room.
Browns starting QB Deshaun Watson is out for the season with a fractured shoulder and will have surgery on Tuesday.
Fifth-round rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, started Sunday’s game and led Cleveland to a 13-10 victory.
Flacco was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens with the 18th pick in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
He led the Ravens a Super Bowl 47 victory over the 49ers 34-31, where he won Super Bowl MVP.
He played 11 seasons with Ravens before spending time with Broncos, Eagles, and Jets.
Flacco has thrown for 42,320 yards with 232 touchdowns and 147 interceptions. He has a career completion percentage of 61.6%.
