As of today, it was announced that the Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson, will have his season ending earlier than expected. Watson sustained an injury to his shoulder and will need the season-ending surgery to repair it.
As of this past Sunday, the Browns are 6-3, while being 3rd in the AFC North.
On Wednesday, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski made that announcement that rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson (DTR) will be starting against long time rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers (who are also 6-3).
DTR has started once this season, during another Watson related injury, against the Baltimore Ravens.
DTR went 19/36 for 121 passing yards, had 24 rushing yards, 4 sacks, and 3 interceptions, per ESPN. That game ended in a loss to the Ravens 28-3.
Since Watson has had an injury prone season, the organization in other games prepared more often with PJ Walker, filling the starter spot majority of the time.
Walker started for two games with the Browns this season, and surely most fans speculated that Walker would be the starting against the Steelers.
Sunday will be an interesting game to watch, but coach Kevin Stefanski wants fans to remain hopeful. Time will only tell.
