On Tuesday afternoon the Cleveland Guardians decided to clear some space for their roster. The Guardians designated two players for assignment , as well as, adding two players to their 40-man roster.
Daniel Espino missed all of the 2023 season but has high expectations just like the others that were his former teammates in the minors…..like Tanner Bibee, Gavin Williams, Logan Allen.
Espino hasn’t had much experience while in the minors, so far throughout his career. He has started in 33 games , holding a 4-11 record, 3.57 ERA, throwing 133.2 innings pitched, 89 hits allowed, 221 strikeouts, and averaging 14.9 strikeouts per 9 innings.
Quantrill had an injury ridden season as Zack mentioned above in that post, Quantrill had only made 19 starts, holding a record of 4-7, 5.24 ERA, 99.2 innings pitched, 58 strikeouts.
The previous years, Quantrill showed glimpses of Cy Young Award material, from the 2021-2022 seasons, he started 54 games, 23-8 record, 3.13 ERA, 336 innings pitched, 249 strikeouts.
Quantrill’s time as a starting pitcher more than likely isn’t over with, especially due to the fact he was bitten by the injury bug. Will his time remain in Cleveland, maybe in a bullpen role? Or will he be looking elsewhere?
