Shakur Stevenson, a rising star in the world of boxing, has already achieved the impressive feat of becoming a two-weight world champion by the age of 26.
Despite his efforts to arrange a showdown with the undisputed lightweight champion, Devin Haney, Stevenson is now focused on securing another championship.
According to an official press release from Top Rank, Stevenson is set to compete for the vacant WBC title, with Edwin De Los Santos as his opponent.
Promoter Bob Arum will be hosting this at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on November 16, just before Formula 1’s inaugural race in the region. The fight will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+ in the United States.
Devin Haney will temporarily step aside as the “champion in recess” to face Regis Prograis for the WBC super lightweight title on December 9.
Stevenson’s journey to this point includes winning a silver medal in the 2016 Olympics in Rio. He claimed the WBO featherweight title in 2019 after defeating Joet Gonzalez. Then, two years later he dethroned Jamel Herring to become the WBO super featherweight champion.
He also secured the WBC and Ring belts by defeating Oscar Valdez, although he lost these titles later on due to a weight issue during a fight against Robson Conceicao.
