The Cleveland Cavaliers head out on the road to New York to face the Knicks for game 2 of their double-header. Unfortunately, the Cavs suffered a loss last night to the Knicks in a tough 109-91 match. With the Knicks win, that brings their record to 2-2 and the Cavs stand at 1-3.
But can the Cavs come in hot for night 2?
It is absolutely possible.
The Cavs and Knicks have an extensive history, with the Knicks knocking the Cavs out of the first round of the 2023 playoffs. But that doesn’t mean the Cavs don’t bring the heat. Sadly, the Cavs are still without some of their starting all-stars due to injuries. This includes Darius Garland (hamstring), Jarrett Allen (ankle), and Chris Lavert (hamstring). But none the less Donovan Mitchell has started off strong with over 25 points in each game he has played.
Even center Evan Mobley has had two double-double games, and has averaged 11.8 rebounds so far into the 2023-2024 season. Issac Okuro, Max Strus, and Georges Niang are other underrated assets and good shooters from the back court.
While the Cavs have more than enough man power to bring home a win, it won’t go without a fight. The Knicks are full of talent between Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, RJ Barrett, and Immanuel Quickly. Just in the current season, these Knicks players have already averaged over 14 points a game.
That’s not even including their assists or work under the hoop for the rebounds. Even though the Cavs aren’t as strong as they should be due to player injuries, it’s 100% possible for the team to bring their record to 2-3 after tonight’s game at Madison Square Garden.
