It only took him 3 weeks, but QB Deshaun Watson spoke to the media about his injured shoulder today.
When asked if he was going to practice today.
He replied, “It just depends on the medical staff. We’ll go through all this media stuff and go through all our medical stuff. We’ll see where today goes.”
When he was asked directly about playing on Sunday.
He replied, “I think so. It just depends on the process of the medical stuff, and the treatment and the rehab that we’re doing day to day. So it’s up in the air for sure.”
Deshaun was asked by a reporter “we saw your throwing before the Baltimore game, there was a little zip in those passes. So how’s your throwing progressed since then?”
Watson replied, “It’s coming along. The arrow has been trending up. So, each and every day we’ve just been trying to get better and try to get as comfortable as possible.”
Watson was asked about waiting until he was “pain-free” before playing.
He replied, “No, it’s not so much of the pain. It’s mostly if I can throw the ball. The pain I can deal with certain pain tolerance, but if I can’t control the ball. I can’t throw the ball with no velocity. If I can’t throw the ball more than a certain number of yards, then like I said before, then I don’t want to handicap the team, because then I can’t get the ball down the field, and I can’t get the ball outside the numbers and things like that, so like I said, that was a couple of weeks ago, but the progress and the arrow is definitely upward and we’re just going to continue to attack it each and every day.”
He was asked if there was any kind of tear in the rotator cuff.
“No, I haven seen anything or heard anything.”
BASICALLY, the only thing that Deshaun Watson said in his first interview, was a rehashing of what had already been said by Head Coach Kevin Stefanski and General Manager Andrew Berry.
Watson has a bruised rotator cuff, and he’s having trouble pushing the football down the field.
Neither Deshaun Watson himself or the team said anything about a “timeline” to return.
The only thing that us Cleveland Browns fans can do, is wait and see when he returns.
Let’s hope that our defense can continue to carry this team, and that our offense can put just enough points on the board to keep us winning.
