There have been multiple reports, of the Browns being “on the phone” with teams about possibly trading for a player.

There are some reports, from various different media outlets, out there about WHO the Browns should trade for, and what the compensation packages should be.

So, let’s take a look at some these trade possibilities, and see if they make even a lick of sense for the Cleveland Browns.

Trade Scenario #1

Cleveland trades a 2024 5th Round Draft pick, to Jacksonville for HB D’Ernest Johnson and a 2024 7th Round pick.

I understand how Browns fans want to bring in a familiar face. I understand that Ford and Hunt haven’t been doing all that well, since Nick Chubb went down.

Let’s be honest, nobody or any combination of players that you or I can think of, is going to be able to replace, Nicholas Jamal Chubb. The heart and soul of this Browns team.

That said, the Browns DO NOT need to make this trade. They have a HB sitting on the bench that can tote that rock better than Jerome and Kareem.

Pierre Strong Jr came over in a late August trade with New England. He was a 4th Round pick out of South Dakota State.

The 5’11”, 215 lbs. running back, finished his highly decorated college career with 4,527 rushing yards, 40 rushing touchdowns, with a 7.2 YPC average. He added 62 catches, for 581 yards, and 3 touchdowns.

He ran a 4.37 non-wind aided 40, at the NFL Combine. He was the fastest running back at the Combine, and the 16th fastest overall. He had a 1.5 second 10-yard split. He can also run between the tackles for tough yards, and he’ll stick his nose in on pass protection.

He’s got 13 carries, for 77 yards, and touchdown with a 5.9 YPC for the Browns this season.

Stick him in there, we have nothing to lose AT ALL.

That’s a NO for this trade.

Trade Scenario #2

Cleveland trades WR Donovan Peoples-Jones, to the New York Jets for WR Mecole Hardman.

The Browns struggles in the passing game has far more to do with the obvious fact that QB Deshaun Watson, has just plain sucked in all but one game; then they have to do with the talent as the WR position. Sure, they’ve had a few “drops”, can’t deny that. The real problem is ball placement.

Trading away a 6’2″ WR, with good speed and hands, for a smaller 5’10” WR, with great speed and just OK hands, is a bad idea.

We tried this experiment. Remember, his name was ANTHONY SCHWARTZ!!!

This is a BIG, H-E-double hockey sticks NO, from me.

Trade Scenario #3

Cleveland trades OT Jedrick Wills Jr and a 2023 3rd Round pick, to Denver for OT Garett Bolles and a 2025 4th Round Pick.

Jedrick Wills Jr SUCKS. It’s been 4 years. When a horse breaks its’ leg, you don’t keep it around in a splint and pay $6.2 Million Dollars to keep it around. You put the thing down and move on.

Garett Bolles is one of the best LT’s in the league. YES, he does get a few holding calls and popped for a false start or two. That being said, I’d definitely pay $13.750 Million this season and $16 Million next season for one of the best, to protect the blind side.

I would ABSOLUTELY make this trade. 100%. Give me this all day, every day, and twice on Sundays.

That being said, there is no way that Denver does this, though. They’d be nuttier than a pecan pie.

Put down the peace pipe, and lay of the hopeium folks.
