It’s Week 6 of the College Football Season.
This week, it’s giving us one of the biggest rivalry games in all of college sports.
We’re getting not 1, not 2, but 3, BIG matchups between undefeated conference opponents.
I’m going to give you the lowdown on potential upsets, my picks on the big games and what you need to know, right now.
FYI…..I do NOT use the rankings from the bias AP Poll or ESPN.
I use my OWN personal rankings.

Red River Showdown.
The Red River Rivalry between the #6 Texas Longhorns and the #11 Oklahoma Sooners started in 1900. Oklahoma WASN’T EVEN A STATE when this rivalry began. From then on, it’s become one of the biggest rivalries not just in college football but in all of sports.
Texas has the series lead 63-50-5, and they put a 49-0 butt whooping on Oklahoma last season.
Saturday’s game will be at the historical Cotton Bowl Stadium, in Dallas, Texas at Noon, on ABC.
Both the Longhorns and the Sooners are undefeated at 5-0 coming in. They are led by QBs who have played very well so far this season. Texas’s Quinn Ewers is 97 of 147 for 1,358 yards, with 10 TDs and 1 INT. Oklahoma’s Dillion Gabriel is 118 of 157 for 1,593 yards, with 15 TDs and 2 INTs. He’s healthy this time around, after being forced to miss the game last year with a head injury.
Texas has the upper hand in the running game. Longhorns HB Jonathon Brooks has 86 carries for 597 yards and 5 TDs. Sooners leading rusher is HB Marcus Major, who has 51 carries for 199 yards and 1 TD.
The Longhorns also have one of the best WRs in the country, in Xavier Worthy. The 6’1″ junior has 26 catches for 345 yards and 3 TDs. He has blazing speed and will need to be double teamed. The Sooners are led by WR Andre. Anthony. He’s caught 22 balls for 387 yards and 1 TD.
Texas is coming in with the 17th ranked defense. They’re giving up 4.71 YPP and 290.8 YPG. Oklahoma ranks 30th. They’re giving up 4.61 YPP and 318.0 YPG. Neither team really gets a lot of pressure on opposing QBs. The Sooners have been more opportunistic with 10 interceptions so far through five games.
Prediction: I think the Longhorns are going to slow the game down and keep control of the clock with the running game. Jonathon Brooks will go for 150+ with 2 TDs, leading to a 35-27 win over the Sooners.
Battle of undefeated Big Ten East Teams.
The undefeated #24 Maryland Terrapins (5-0) will roll into Columbus and take on the #4 Ohio State Buckeyes (4-0) at Noon on FOX.
The Buckeyes have never lost to the Terrapins, a perfect 8-0 when they meet on the gridiron.
Maryland comes into this game with the more established starter at QB. Taulia Tagovailoa is 111 of 169 for 1,464 yards, with 13 TDs and 3 INTs. Ohio State QB Kyle McCord now the full-time starter is 74 of 113 for 1,055 yards, with 6 TDs and 1 INT.
The Buckeyes have the edge on the ground, being able to roll out three HBs. They’re led by Tre’Veyon Henderson, who has 44 carries for 295 yards and 5 TDs. The Terrapins are led by Roman Hemby, who has carried the ball 64 times for 309 yards and 4 TDs.
Ohio State has the best WR duo in the country in Marvin Harrison Jr, who has 17 catches for 336 yards and 3 TDs. He’s coming off an ankle injury, sustained against Notre Dame on September 23rd. His running mate, Emeka Egbuka, has 19 catches for 263 yards and 3 TDs. Maryland’s leading WR is Jeshaun Jones, who has 19 catches for 319 yards and 2 TDs.
Ohio State is coming in with the 6th ranked defense in the country. They’re giving up 4.10 YPP and 255.5 YPG. Maryland ranks 38th in the country. They’re giving up 4.81 YPP and 328.2 YPG. The Terrapins actually have the edge in sack total over the Buckeyes 13 to 5, despite Ohio State having a better defensive line. 9 of those 13 sacks for Maryland are from the LBs.
Prediction: This game has the potential to be an upset. It wouldn’t shock me at all. However, I think that this game will be close through three quarters, but Ohio State pulls away in the 4th. Buckeyes get a 42-28 win.
2 Undefeated SEC East Teams Collide.
The #18 Kentucky Wildcats (5-0) will take on the #1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs (5-0) in Athens, GA at 7PM on ESPN.
(Small humblebrag. I’m the only person I know, that predicted Kentucky to be undefeated at this point.)
Kentucky transfer QB Devin Leary hasn’t lived up to expectations so far this season. He’s 82 of 142 for 1,129 yards, with 10 TDs and 5 INTs. Georgia’s first year starter QB Carson Beck is 116 of 161 for 1,497 yards, with 7 TDs and 2 INTs.
Kentucky has the advantage in the run game with HB Ray Davis. The big man not only has size and strength, but he has the speed to take it all the way as well. He has 76 rushes for 594 yards and 8 TDs. He also has 3 receiving TDs as well. The Bulldogs are led by HB Daijun Edwards, who has 51 carries for 260 yards and 5 TDs.
Georgia’s all-world TE Brock Bowers, leads the team in all 3 major categories with 30 catches for 413 yards and 3 TDs. He’s the best TE in the country and carried the team to victory last week. Kentucky is led by WR Tayvion Robinson. He has 19 catches for 308 yards and 3 TDs.
The Georgia Bulldogs come in with the 16th ranked defense. They’re giving up 4.42 YPP and 287.2 YPG. That’s not as dominate as they have been the last few seasons, but still good. The Kentucky Wildcats aren’t far behind though. They are tied with the 19th ranked defense in the country. They’re giving up 4.56 YPP and 297.2 YPG.
Georgia has more interceptions 8 to 5, but Kentucky has more sacks 14 to 8, and has more forced fumbles 4 to 1.
Prediction: There is no way the SEC lets Georgia lose this game. I think Kentucky plays with them neck and neck for 4 quarters, before the magical flags show up. I’m taking the Bulldogs to squeak by the Wildcats 31-27.
Possible Upset Alert.
#15 Notre Dame (5-1) travels south to play #23 Louisville (5-0).
7:30 PM on ABC.
The Fighting Irish lost an emotional heart breaker to Ohio State on the final play of the game two weeks ago. They won an emotional hard-fought ball game at Duke last Saturday. Notre Dame has the better QB, TE, OL, and the better defense. Louisville has the better WR with Jarmari Thrash. It’s a push at HB. Cardinals HB Jawhar Jordan is just as good as Notre Dames’ HB Audric Estime.
This is a fast and scrappy Louisville Cardinals team, and Notre Dame has been put through the ringer of emotions these last two games.
The line (as of 10/3) has ND as 6.5 point road favorites.
Possible Blowout Alert.
#17 LSU Tigers (3-2) goes up to #25 Missouri Tigers.
This is simple.
LSU has more playmakers, they have more depth, and Brian Kelly is pissed off about last week’s loss.
The line (as of 10/3) has LSU as 6.5 road favorites.
LSU is winning by 3 TDs.
5 Things I want to see happen.
- Kentucky upset Georgia. Bring on the chaos that would follow.
- Texas A&M upset Alabama. For the same reason as above.
- UConn get their first win of the season.
- Florida State QB Jordan Travis throw for 300+ yards and 5 or more TDs.
- The Findlay Oilers(D3) to keep on winning.
