All of us football fans, like to sit down and play armchair General Manager.

It’s OK.

We all do it; hell, I do it all the time.

As I sat down to watch the games that I didn’t see LIVE, the wheels in my head started to turn once again (dangerous I know LOL).

A trade popped into my head that made sense for BOTH teams.

TRADE SCENARIO:

The Indianapolis Colts trade HB Jonathan Taylor to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for conditional 2024 2nd Round Pick.
(Statistical benchmarks and possible signing would max it out at a 2nd.)

How does it work for both teams?

Indianapolis Colts

Everyone and their baby sister knows that Jonathan Taylor wants out of Indianapolis. That’s fine, they don’t need that kinda noise when trying to break in a rookie QB. We all know because we’ve seen it before. S–t like that in the locker room, hurts development of younger players.

Also, HB Zack Moss is doing OK with the starting job. He has 66 carries for 280 yards (4.2 YPC) and 1 TD, he’s even got a receiving TD as well. HB Trey Sermon is a capable back-up, plus the additional draft capital. Take the extra picks and move up to get QB Anthony Richardson a weapon at WR.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

They are 3-1 and in first place in the NFC South with a one of the worst running games in the NFL. They are average a horrible 3.0 YPC and only 87 YPG. HBs Rachaad White and Ke’Shawn Vaughn simply can’t cut it, as starters in the league. The have arguably a Top 5 WR Combo in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

Jonathan Taylor has rushed for 3,841 yards and 33 TDs in 3 seasons. He averages 5.1 YPC, that’s nothing to sneeze at. He has the ability to catch it out of the backfield with 104 catches for 802 yards with 3 TDs.

A “do it all” Pro Bowl HB is just what the team needs to help QB Baker Mayfield continue playing well, and make a serious playoff run, in a weak NFC Conference.

Conclusion:

The Colts took their shot in asking for the moon, and the league told them to basically “go pound sand”.

Getting help for their new franchise QB is the most important priority right now, and more picks will do just that.

The Buccaneers get a real weapon and a legitimate chance, at not only the division but the conference.
