WWE RAW: Unexpected Comeback! Ripley gets attacked

WWE Raw – September 11th, 2023 – Results, Videos & more – Norfolk, Virginia/ USA

More than 7,000 fans didn’t miss WWE Raw at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

Announced for the Main Event: Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez.

At the end of the broadcast, this title match should be overshadowed by a comeback….

Judgement Day shows interest in Jey Uso

Who wanted to see Jey Uso on WWE Raw this week? The fans in Norfolk! However, Kevin Owens, who confronted Uso in the ring, showed much more skepticism.

Kevin said there were some people in the locker room like Drew McIntyre or Matt Riddle who didn’t want Jey on the WWE Raw roster.

Owens: “You’re in for a long haul if you want my trust and respect. Then you’ll first have to prove you’re not the bastard you were in Bloodline days.”

Judgment Day brought one objection. Damian Priest said Owens couldn’t speak for the entire Locker Room.

Dominik Mysterio’s offer from the previous week was repeated: Judgment Day would welcome Jey Uso into their grouping with open arms anytime.

However, because Sami Zayn was absent that night, Jey Uso then offered to team up with Kevin Owens against Judgment Day. After a short hesitation K.O. accepted the offer.

Jey Uso unintentionally hits Kevin Owens with the superkick!

•Tag Team Match:
WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champions The Judgment Day (Finn Bálor and Damian Priest) defeated Kevin Owens & Jey Uso in a non-title match; Bálor pinned Owens via Coup de Grace

Kevin Owens earned a good opportunity against Finn Bálor with a Brainbuster off the ropes. Damian Priest interrupted the cover and saved his partner.

Jey Uso now wanted to support Owens against Priest. He lunged with a superkick, but unfortunately scored a knockout.

Priest and Uso sent each other over the ropes. Meanwhile, Bálor hit Owens with the Coup de Grace and got the win.

Jey tried to make contact with Kevin after the loss. However, Owens limped out of the arena alone. Uso had not been able to build confidence with his (accidental) superkick against him.

-A little later, Owens and Uso met again backstage. Kevin wasn’t buying Jey’s idea that he had just made a mistake. The annoyed Owens yelled, “Why don’t you go find Judgment Day and dye your hair purple?”

The Miz is ready for LA Knight!

•Singles Match:
The Miz def. Akira Tozawa via Pinfall after the Skull-Crushing Finale

The Miz was recently rolled up in a match on WWE Raw by Akira Tozawa. He made the mistake of focusing too much on LA Knight, who was in attendance.

Without LA Knight at ringside, Miz ironed out that loss to Tozawa at this point.

Miz didn’t relinquish control and immediately showed three Skull-Crushing Finales with a salute to Knight.

Friday’s SmackDown features The Miz vs. LA Knight.

-A confident Raquel Rodriguez declared in the backstage interview that Rhea Ripley is not the biggest, strongest and most aggressive woman in the ring today. The titleholder will get a taste of her own medicine in the Main Event.

Chad Gable is not done yet with Gunther

Imperium celebrated Gunther’s record as the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time.

Of his proceedings, Gunther said, “You guys didn’t contribute – I took the title to a new level. But now I’m running out of competition. I’m only in competition with myself!”

One objection was brought by Chad Gable, who would not stand for the way his daughter sat at ringside the previous week and cried at her father’s defeat.

Gable: “No one has pushed you to the brink of defeat like I have. You’ve lit a fire in me. It will burn until I finish this thing.”

Chad’s daughter would have a smile on her face when he finally defeated Gunther.

Gunther countered, “You’re a great athlete, you pushed me to my limit. But you’re a terrible father!”

A physical altercation erupted after these nasty words! Otis appeared in support against Imperium. And then Tommaso Ciampa joined in as well. He brought a chair to drive away Gunther and his men.

-Later, Ciampa stated in an interview, “Adam Pearce told me to go for my shot!” Otis suggested a 6-man tag team match against Imperium for tonight. Tommaso agreed to support Alpha Academy.

Drew McIntyre shows Xavier Woods his limits

-Xavier Woods confronted Drew McIntyre backstage. Woods didn’t want to leave in the room how Drew had talked about Kofi Kingston the previous week. He said, “You’re jealous – because Kofi won the WWE title at WrestleMania in front of 80,000 people. Your big moment came in the empty Performance Center. That’s why you lie awake at night!”

•Singles Match:
Drew McIntyre def. Xavier Woods via Pinfall with the Claymore Kick

Woods’ commitment to his friend was worthy of all honor. But this match did not go in his favor.

Xavier fended off a first attempt at a claymore with a superkick. But later on, when the match really picked up speed, Drew surprisingly hit his dreaded kick and got the victory.

McIntyre still said, “It didn’t have to go that way!”

Cody Rhodes silences “Dirty” Dom

Cody Rhodes wanted to talk about Jey Uso in the ring, but was immediately interrupted by Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh.

“Dirty” Dom was happy that Cody had brought Jey to WWE Raw: “Jey’s going to join Judgment Day – and make you look like a fool! You won’t be able to do anything about that!”

Now when Mysterio touched Cody’s tie, enough was enough for the “American Nightmare.” Both “Dirty” Dom and JD McDonagh were taken out single-handedly by Cody. Both members of Judgement Day landed to the canvas with a Cross Rhodes.

-Drew McIntyre met Jey Uso backstage: “I don’t trust you – and I don’t think you’re going to prevail here on your own!” Both men agreed to a match next week, where Jey can convince Drew otherwise.

Tag Team Match Announces

-Chelsea Green offered Shayna Baszler a collaboration backstage. Baszler, however, preferred to rip Green’s limbs out in the ring. At that moment Piper Niven returned after a short time out and took one of the Women’s Tag Team Title belts again.

•Singles Match:
Shayna Baszler def. Chelsea Green per Pinfall with the Exterminatus

Baszler gave Green no chance in a short match and won with the Piper’s Pit, which Shayna henceforth calls Exterminatus.

Green’s companion Piper Niven got into it with Baszler. Shayna was backed up by Zoey Stark, who took Niven down with a superkick. Piper got back to her feet and glared at Baszler as well as Stark. Here comes the tag team match for sure!

-Shinsuke Nakamura made the next fighting statement to Seth Rollins in a video, “You bring shame to your family. I will take the title from you and expose your lies.” Nakamura would then challenge Rollins for the World Title if he felt like it.

Nakamura continues to delay rematch against Rollins

Seth Rollins responded in the ring to Shinsuke’s video promo: “I am a visionary, revolutionary – but also a manipulator, cheater and traitor. Just like Nakamura said. In addition, I am a father, a fighter and World Heavyweight Champion.”

Rollins said he had long filled roles that others expected of him. Now, he said, he is just himself – and the fans love him. Thanks to his fans, he said, he’s at peace with himself and his past. He can look in the mirror at home and look his daughter in the eye.

His management had advised him to take a step back. But that’s not how he works: Rollins wanted to fight Nakamura right now.

Suddenly, in the backstage area, Nakamura could be seen beating up Ricochet.

Shinsuke said, “I didn’t think you had clearance. That’s why I looked for another fight. I’ll take your title from you too – but not today!”

-Jey Uso was stopped in the backstage area by Finn Bálor. Finn made Judgment Day palatable to him. There were all fans of Jey. The door would be open…

Alpha Academy sets an example

•6 Man Tag Team Match:
The Alpha Academy (Chad Gable & Otis) & Tommaso Ciampa def. IMPERIUM (GUNTHER, Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci); Vinci submitted in Gable’s Ankle Lock

Chad Gable’s ankle lock put first GUNTHER, then Giovanni Vinci in trouble. When Chaos Theory followed against Vinci, Gunther broke up the pin attempt at the last moment.

GUNTHER now went for the Powerbomb against Gable, but Ciampa crashed into the Intercontinental Champion’s knee.

Ludwig Kaiser was taken off his feet by Otis outside the ring. GUNTHER delivered a kick against Otis.

Meanwhile, Vinci got caught in Gable’s Ankle Lock again. GUNTHER tried to get into the ring to break the hold. But Ciampa grabbed Gunther and took him into his Sicilian Stretch.

Now GUNTHER had to watch Vinci tap out into Gables Ankle Lock! The victory for Alpha Academy and Ciampa.

-Becky Lynch and Tiffany Stratton signed with Adam Pearce for the title match at NXT. Becky said, “You could be great. But all you care about is being famous.” Stratton remained confident that as the self-proclaimed best NXT Women’s Champion of all time, she could also defeat Becky.

Nia Jax provides the End result in the Main Event of WWE RAW

•WWE Women’s World Championship Match:
Rhea Ripley retains her Women’s Championship against Raquel Rodriguez via Pinfall after the Riptide

At “Payback” Rhea Ripley could already land a victory against Raquel Rodriguez. However, Dominik Mysterio interfered in the finish of the match.

Now Rodriguez got a second chance thanks to Adam Pearce. “Dirty” Dom had been banned from the ring so that there was no threat of controversy again.

Rodriguez prevented Ripley’s riptide in the hot phase. Instead, the challenger followed up with a powerslam, the Snake Eyes and a Big Boot.

Attempting Raquel’s Corkscrew Elbow off the ropes, Rhea got her leg up. The titleholder then climbed the top rope and landed a Frog Splash for a 2-count.

After a baseball slide from Ripley, it was out of the ring as Rhea delivered a Cannonball from the edge of the ring but was intercepted by Raquel and slammed into the commentary table. A Tejana Bomb to the Apron followed.

Ripley was carried into the ring, with Raquel trying to follow her.

Suddenly Nia Jax appears.

Nia grabbed Rodriguez and hammered her to the gym floor with a Samoan Drop.

Rhea followed up with the Riptide shortly after in the ring and made the title defense perfect.

The Final Point on WWE RAW: Nia Jax destroys Rhea Ripley

Ripley briefly triumphed with her title. But then Nia Jax confronted her – and dealt a headbutt!

Nia followed with a legdrop on the edge of the ring and the Banzai Drop against the Women’s World Champion.

Making her comeback on WWE Raw, Nia Jax was able to make a dominant statement at this point!
