The NFL made its return Thursday night, with the Chiefs taking on the Detroit Lions. Today we get a full slate of games to officially kick off week one. With all the excitement around non stop football to watch, their is also a lot of uncertainties in week one, as we saw on Thursday night. For me the best bet to play during week one are teasers.

Teasers are a type of bet that allows you to combine two or more games and adjust the point spread for those matchups. Some of you may do this already. It’s also called “buying points.” My teaser was placed on Bet365, but if you use FanDuel or DraftKings you will just be placing a three team parlay and buying points. I’ll quickly go over the three teams selected and why.

Team one is the Washington Commanders. Washington takes on the Arizona Cardinals today at home, as Arizona is projected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season. With Kyler Murray still out, Joshua Dobbs will get the start for Arizona. Under center for Washington is journeyman Jacoby Brissett. Two things you always hear about Jacoby is he’s a great teammate and his ability to limit turnovers. He’s not going to light up the stat sheet, but he won’t put the defense in tough situations either. The current line for this match is Washington -7, but we are taking that down to Washington Moneyline.

Team two is the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore opens their season up at home taking on the Houston Texans. Houston will turnover the reigns to first round draft pick C.J. Stroud. The Ohio State QB has tremendous upside, but week one on the road against a Ravens team with Lamar Jackson making his return, I expect it to be a rough welcome to the NFL moment. The line sits at Ravens -9.5, so we are going to buy that down to Baltimore -2.5.

And last, but not least team three is the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags take on division rival Indianapolis Colts. Surprisingly this line has been dancing around from as high as Jags -5 to now Jags -3.5. I understand division games are unpredictable, but the Jags are head and shoulders better than the Colts. My only concern here for Jacksonville is that they aren’t looking ahead to next weeks matchup against the Chiefs.

Jacksonville is my preseason sleeper to be in the Super Bowl. After KC and Cincinnati, I believe they’re the next best team in the AFC. (But that’s another article for another day.) With the current line at Jags -3.5 we are buying it down to Jags +2.5.

Let’s kick week one off right!

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
