We head to Flushing Queens for the final game between the Seattle Mariners and the New York Mets. The Mets grabbed game one, before Seattle’s JP Crawford hit a game winning home run in the 9th of game two. Even with the Mets having nothing to play for, both games have been evenly contested and decided by one run each. The Mariners on the other hand, hold a one game lead in the AL West with Houston and Texas breathing down their necks.

Seattle gives the ball to its young ace George Kirby who has been lights out over his last seven starts. Kirby is 2-0 with a 2.89 ERA and 49 strikeouts. Taking the mound for New York is right hander Tylor Megill. Megill has only made it out the 5th inning once over his last six starts and owns a 5.29 ERA with a walk rate north of 10%. The league average is eight percent. Not only are these teams going in different directions, Seattle is 7-3 in its last 10, while New York is 3-7.

If you’ve read my articles before you know we normally like to get our money early and get out. Based on Saturday night’s game even though the Mets battled they had to use seven pitchers. With Megill’s track record an inability to go deep in ball games I’m expecting Seattle to get to the Mets bullpen after Megill’s exit.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
