Initially, wrestling fans thought that August 20 2021, changed the wrestling business as we knew it. CM Punk made his return to professional wrestling for the first time in seven years, since walking out of WWE.
Punk was well received in his return to Chicago for the alternative promotion, All Elite Wrestling, but little did wrestling fans know, this would be the best time fans would have of Punk.
Since Punk has returned to wrestling, in addition to stating on a live microphone, inside of an AEW ring, that he was looking forward to working with new individuals and a youthful roster.
The youthful roster would eventually tend to tick off Punk, way more often than expected, with Punk having an issue at All Out in 2022, which has been coined as “Brawl Out” where Punk and The Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) got into a fight following the Pay-Per-View.
Punk, who was supposed to be Tony Khan’s biggest acquisition, shortly became the biggest headache for the president and CEO of AEW.
Following this debacle, Punk, while also sustaining a tricep injury, was away for nine months, before returning for the debut of AEW Collision, in the middle of June.
Let’s fast forward to this Labor Day weekend, a week following the biggest Pay-Per-View in AEW history, in London, for All In, Punk gets into a debacle once again, this time with Jack Perry…before Punk opened the show with Samoa Joe for the “Real World Championship”.
Punk now has his own show in 2023, with AEW adding Collision to their schedule with a new Saturday show, based around CM Punk. Punk has taken shots since his return at Adam “Hangman” Page following an episode of AEW Collision since June as well.
How much longer can someone deal with Punk, even if he is generating a lot of money and interest by some fans… but this fan is sick and tired of hearing the name CM Punk, due to the fact that nothing but drama follows that specific name.
Since the incident at All In, the upcoming All Out PPV, has unfortunately been overshadowed by drama once again, stemming from CM Punk.
Punk has seemed to be the common denominator with most issues in AEW. Punk has had a problem with The Elite previously, and the trio has been subjectively separated from Punk with his new show taking place on Saturdays, while The Elite continues to appear on the flagship, AEW Dynamite.
Maybe there has been a reason Punk had a seven year absence…strictly because most wrestling companies didn’t want to take this type of risk on the former WWE star.
For once being a CM Punk fan growing up, my stance has changed more and more and I have became disinterested in the “Straight Edge Savior” with each issue pushing me further and further away from changing my mind.
Will CM Punk make an appearance at AEW All Out? Will Punk leave fans disappointed in Chicago because of his actions? Was Jack Perry in the wrong? Let us know what your stance is on X (Twitter) @WeLikeSportzPC.
