We head to PNC park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the final game between the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
This four game series currently sits 3-1 in favor of Chicago, as the Cubs look to make it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2017. Pitcher Jordan Wicks made his MLB debut yesterday for Chicago striking out nine Pirates over five innings.
The Pirates started the season on fire going 19-9 in their first 28 games, but their season has been downhill since.
Friday’s 2-1 victory over Chicago was the first win against the Cubs in seven tries this season. They hand the ball to Bailey Falter who holds a 1-7 record, but has pitched better in his last four appearances. He’ll oppose Javier Assad for Chicago who supports a 2-2 record with a 3.13 ERA. Over his last three starts Assad has surrendered five runs through 16 innings.
The Cubs have won six out of their last eight games overall and eight out of nine against Pittsburgh.
This line seems a little low, so let’s hope the Cubs are focused today and not looking ahead to their big division match against Milwaukee starting tomorrow. Chicago currently sits four games back of Milwaukee in the NL Central.
