Drama around the BLOODLINE continues- Jey Uso leaves SmackDown and WWE!?

WWE SmackDown – August 11th, 2023 (Calgary- Alberta/ Canada)

Sold out house in Canada! WWE SmackDown after SummerSlam this week came from the Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada (over 10,500 spectators).

The WWE Universe waited excitedly for Jimmy Uso’s explanation after the turn against his brother Jey.

Damage CTRL ruins start of WWE SmackDown

•Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka• (No Contest)

WWE SmackDown kicked off with a rematch of one of the most important women’s rivalries of recent years. Charlotte Flair had been able to inflict the first defeat on Asuka five years ago, at WrestleMania 34. Then, last Saturday, Asuka lost the WWE Women’s Championship, but Charlotte also came away empty-handed.

Flair showed dominance in this match – including a crossbody, a spear and then the approach to the Figure-8 Leglock.

But at that moment Damage CTRL stepped onto the stage. Asuka used this for a quick roll-up against Flair, but only managed the 2-count.

Bayley climbed to the edge of the apron and created a distraction. New WWE Women’s Champion Iyo Sky even went one step further, and delivered a Springboard Dropkick against both opponents.

Immediately the match was stopped – and Damage CTRL continued their attack on both women. Asuka and Charlotte were left beaten in the ring while Bayley and Dakota Kai stood with Iyo Sky.

-Santos Escobar was confident in his backstage interview before his title match. Suddenly, however, US Champion Austin Theory was on hand and went after Escobar. Theory slammed the lid of a shipping crate onto Escobar’s knee before the remaining members of the LWO came to Escobar’s rescue.

AJ Styles and Karrion Kross face off again.

•AJ Styles def. Karrion Kross via Pinfall with the Styles Clash•

AJ Styles won the first match of the rivalry on May 19th on WWE SmackDown against Karrion Kross.

Kross and Scarlett had then defeated AJ Styles and Michin in a mixed tag team match on June 16th. On July 7th, Styles picked up another singles win over Kross in quick time at Madison Square Garden.

Most recently, Kross caused Styles’ elimination from the Battle Royal at SummerSlam.

In this match, Styles survived the Kross Jacket submission. AJ landed a 450 Splash shortly after. Scarlett put Kross’ foot on the ring rope, so the referee didn’t count the cover. Michin then took care of Scarlett.

As Styles was about to deliver the Styles Clash, Scarlett climbed to the edge of the ring. Michin grabbed Scarlett and threw her in a high arc over the commentator’s table.

Kross first prevented the Styles Clash, but then felt the connection with a Pele Kick. Now Karrion was knocked out and was sent to the mat by AJ with the Styles Clash. 1…2…3 – the decision in favor of the Phenomenal One (and hopefully this is the final point of the feud)

Face off between Edge and Sheamus- First Match ever for next Week

-Edge’s next appearance was announced for next week on WWE SmackDown, but the Rated-R Superstar came to the ring on Friday anyway.

Edge wants to compete in a match at the next WWE SmackDown, in his hometown of Toronto – against a man he’s never faced in the ring: Sheamus.

Shown were pictures of a mountain-biking trip Edge and Sheamus took together, which was a catalyst for Edge to seek his wrestling comeback.

In addition, Sheamus spoke of how he was a bouncer in a Dublin pub in 2004 – and when the WWE Superstars came into the venue, only Edge faced his questions. The Rated-R Superstar made sure Sheamus pursued his pro wrestling career and ended up in WWE in the first place, he said.

In the end, both men agreed on their first match next week.

-WWE congratulated Hulk Hogan on his 70th birthday. Brother!

Calgary is ready for LA KNIGHT, YEAH!

•LA Knight def. Top Dollar via Pinfall with the BFT•

Top Dolla controlled the match in the early going. Ashante The Adonis placed a hit from the outside against the SummerSlam Battle Royal winner.

Knight broke free, however, when he landed on Dolla’s shoulders, followed shortly by a big counterattack: Ashante was removed when he climbed onto the apron.

Knight followed with the Yeah-Elbow and the BFT for the clean victory.

-Bobby Lashley expressed his satisfaction with the new look of Street Profits and the performance in the previous week. The trio seemed to plan another cooperation… Hurt Business 2.0? We will see.

Rey Mysterio replaces injured Escobar in U.S. Championship Match

Santos Escobar was cleared to move into his title match against Austin Theory even with his banged up knee. But as soon as he entered, Escobar was attacked by the United States champion. By all accounts, with his knee already damaged, Santos was unable to continue.

Theory grabbed the microphone in the ring, “I want to apologize that you won’t see Austin Theory live. I wanted to put the title on the line, but Santos is just too weak!”

The referee was now supposed to hold Theory’s arm up for the win. But WWE official Adam Pearce had another plan: “We promised Calgary a title match!” And so Rey Mysterio entered as the replacement against Theory.

Rey is the NEW WWE U.S Champion

•Rey Mysterio beats US Champion Austin Theory and is the NEW United States Champion via Pinfall with the Springboard Splash•

In a fairly short title match, Rey Mysterio was able to repeatedly stop the United States Champion from getting an A-Town Down.

Theory then intercepted Rey Mysterio on the first attempt for the 619. Ultimately, though, the action went to the finish, then Rey followed with the Splash off the ring ropes and made the pin for the title win.

Rey Mysterio thus became United States champion for the third time in his career (he had already won the US title twice in 2019).

The WWE Hall of Famer celebrated the moment with the LWO. For Santos Escobar (on crutches), it was a bittersweet moment. After all, he had actually wanted to win the belt himself that night.

Jimmy betrays his twin brother Jey because of his brotherly love!? – Jey leaves SmackDown and the WWE

Roman Reigns came to the ring together with Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa.

Jimmy Uso was missing at this point, but then came hesitantly behind.

Roman said he owed something to “Jim” and wanted to present him with a new car, a night out or his own plane.

But Jimmy noted his decision had nothing to do with Roman.

Jey Uso followed into the hall. He faced his brother and demanded answers for his actions at SummerSlam.

Jimmy: “I did it because I love you. I was afraid of losing you. If you would have won, you would have become the ‘Tribal Chief’. And then what would have become of the Usos? Then you would have become like him (Roman). Power has made him corrupt – a selfish, lying asshole. I couldn’t have lived with that!”

Jimmy did not want to take away Jey’s fame. He only acted out of love.

Jey turned his back on his brother and Jimmy left the ring.

Roman Reigns laughed at the brothers. He said to Jey: “It was clear that you ruin everything. Because you’re a hothead. It’s all about one thing, like the last three years. Acknowledge me!”

At that moment, Jey delivered a superkick to Reigns. Solo then attacked Jey. The Samoan Spike was threatened, but Jey fought back with a superkick. Reigns was there to deliver the Superman Punch to Jey.

Roman now prepared the Spear, but Jey beat him to it with a Superkick. He then delivered the Spear against Reigns himself.

Jimmy ran into his brother in the entrance area and wanted to hug him. But Jey fired a superkick at Jimmy as well.

Now Jey yelled into the camera: “I’m out of Bloodline. Out of SmackDown. And out of WWE.”

Shortly after this whole ordeal, Jey Uso left WWE SmackDown through the audience…
