Stroud Struggles in Preseason Debut

The Houston Texans rookie QB, and hope for the future, struggled in his first NFL preseason game at New England.

CJ Stroud went 2 of 4 for 13 yards with an interception. The product out of Ohio State played in the first two series of the game. Stroud was sacked once and rushed for 6 yards on 2 attempts.

In his first series, Stroud completed his first pass to Nico Collins for 8 yards. What happened subsequently next on that drive was a 15-yard sack and an interception.

Stroud’s second series was not much better. He completed a short pass, ran for short yardage and then misfired on another throw before the Texans were forced to punt.

Stroud is competing with veteran Davis Mills for the starting job. According to camp reports the reps are being distributed fairly evenly.

Stroud’s next opportunity is August 19 when the Texans host the Miami Dolphins.
