On Saturday evening, Chargers running back, Austin Ekeler, led a running backs only zoom call regarding how teams are viewing players at that position.
The feeling it seems, at least amongst owners and general managers of organizations that the running back position isn’t worth paying players because they are runned down and worn out. If they succeed, it can’t be for a consistent amount of time because their legs would get tired and worn down. That’s the feeling with higher ups.
Cleveland Browns running back, Nick Chubb, stated that right now running backs are in a position that “there’s nothing they can really do”.
Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Dalvin Cook, are all running backs experiencing a situation like this during this past offseason.
What should the NFL, or the players do? Is this a fixable situation? Are owners and GMs closing the running back position window even more?
