We head to Flushing Queens for the final game between the LA Dodgers and the New York Mets. The Met’s have started the second half the same way most of their first half went, with the inability to score. They’ve dropped the first two games 6-0 and 5-1.
Max Scherzer takes the mound for New York still trying to find his form, as he’s been up and down most of the season, but especially in June. Scherzer had three straight starts were he gave up two runs or less. His last two starts he’s given up nine runs combined.
He’ll counter Bobby Miller, who also is coming off a rough month of June. Miller sits 5-1 on the season, but has surrendered twenty runs over his last four starts. Being in his debut season, teams may have adjusted after getting film on Miller. His first five starts he only allowed two earned runs.
Most of the money is on the Dodgers and who could blame anyone for taking the better team against a struggling offense. If the Mets can’t hit Miller, I don’t think they could hit me. I’m going with Max early to try and give this team a pulse and avoid being swept at home.
