We head to Anaheim, California, for the final game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Angels. Arizona won the first two games 6-2 and 3-1. With the incredible month of June Shohei Ohtani has had it hasn’t helped the Angels much. They’re just 3-7 over their last ten and have lost four straight.
On the mound today for Arizona is NL Cy Young favorite, Zac Gallen. Gallen comes in 10-2 on the season with a 3.02 ERA. As good as Gallen has been his one flaw has been pitching on the road. His ERA jumps to 5.08 away from Arizona. Getting the nod for LAA is lefty, Reid Detmers. Detmers is 1-5 on the year with a 3.77 ERA. While his wins and losses don’t look impressive, Detmers has been lights out over his last four starts. Allowing just three runs over his last 25 innings pitched.
For the Angles, its no doubt in my mind Detmers will be able to keep them in the game, it all comes down to their offense. Someone besides Ohtani has to contribute.
LAA is 2-4 on this current homestead and will hit the road for five games after this matchup. I’m backing the Angels to avoid the sweep and help Detmer get another W in the win column.
