The first-place Cincinnati Reds host the Colorado Rockies tonight at Great American Ball Park. Yes, I said the first-place Cincinnati Reds!
The team hasn’t been in first place this late in the season since 2012, the last time they won the NL Central Division.
The Reds currently have a 9-game winning streak and are 38-35. They are .5 games ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Adding fun to more fun is the fact that Cincinnati has their most beloved player back from a shoulder injury, Joey Votto. All he did in his return was go 2-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI.
Good times seem to be back along the river and the Reds are playing good baseball. Does it help that their division is around .500? Of course it does but for a team that has had a lot of losing lately this surprise is welcomed by fans.
Who knows? The Reds could shock the baseball world and win their division and bring the Queen City some postseason baseball.
