Happy Father’s Day to all the men who have stepped up to the plate to be a father-figure in a child’s life. The world is better for the love you give.
The world of sports has seen many father/child combinations and the list below highlights some of the most famous ones:
Cecil and Prince Fielder – like father like son, both have jacked over 50 home runs in a Major League season.
Dell and Steph Curry – Dell shot over 40% from deep and Steph Curry is a multiple MVP and NBA champion.
Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. – Senior has 7 cup championships but Junior has more wins at Daytona.
Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. – The Griffey’s are baseball royalty. Senior got the rings, two with the Reds and Junior Griffey had the stats with 630 home runs. The coolest thing was when they hit back-to-back home runs while playing together.
Bobby and Barry Bonds – Bobby was a great player but Barry has the most MVP’s and also the most home runs in baseball history.
Clay Matthews Jr. and Clay III – Clay Jr. played 19 seasons and was a 3-Time All-Pro. Clay Matthews III was NFC Defensive player of the year, Butkus award winner and also won a Super Bowl.
Mychal and Klay Thompson – Mychal played for the “showtime” Lakers and was a defensive presence while Klay is part of the “Splash Bros.” and is an offensive star.
Archie and Peyton/Eli Manning – Archie was a great QB on bad Saints teams while Peyton was great winning 2 Super Bowls. Eli was above average who got hot in two playoff season and also has 2 Super Bowls.
Bobby and Brent Hull – nicknamed the Golden Jet and the Golden Brett. Both have won Stanley Cups and have had 50 goals in a season and over 600 career goals.
Muhammad and Laila Ali – Muhammad was a 3-time champion in the boxing ring and even much more outside of it. His activism makes him one of the most influential people of all-time. Laila Ali can also be considered the best boxer. Her record was 24-0.
