The National Basketball Association crowned a new first-time champion as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat on Monday night. This makes the decade of the 2020’s having 4 different NBA champions in 4 years. The Lakers, Bucks, and Warriors are the other three teams.

Will this decade match the 1970’s? That decade had 8 different champions or will it be a decade of recycling title winners like the 1980’s and 1990’s were with only 4 different winners in each decade?

The 2000’s had 5 different winners and the 2010’s increased to 7. So far the 20’s are heading in the direction of the 1970’s and 2010’s so only time will tell.

Here are the NBA champions in each decade since 1970.

1970’s – Knicks, Bucks, Lakers, Celtics, Warriors, Trail Blazers, Bullets, SuperSonics

1980’s – Lakers, Celtics, 76ers, Pistons

1990’s – Pistons, Bulls, Rockets, Spurs

2000’s – Lakers, Spurs, Pistons, Heat, Celtics

2010’s – Lakers, Mavericks, Heat, Spurs, Warriors, Cavaliers, Raptors

2020’s – Lakers, Bucks, Warriors, Nuggets

Tell us what you think. What kind of decade will the 2020’s be in terms of number of different NBA champions crowned?
