PER ESPN – Saquon Barkley is very optimistic when he was asked if himself and New York Giants would end up agreeing on a long term contract. There are many things that are going into the contract talks.

Barkley has shared that he was a little upset that he was franchise tagged by the Giants, stating “Me getting tagged, was I upset about it? Nobody wants to get tagged, to sit here and say I was frustrated, I was mad, I was upset, what really got me upset was the stories that got leaked out and how misleading they were and how untruthful they were.”

Barkley also began to say that at the end of the day it is all about respect, and if there is a deal on the table that benefits both himself and the Giants, he is ready to sign. The Giants offered Barkley a contract earlier this year that would have given him $14 Million a year.

Barkley also went on to say that the contract talks is an eye-opening process, “Just come to the reality that this is a business”

The Giants finished last season 9-7-1, and made the postseason, and won their first postseason game, which was the first time in Barkley’s pro career.

The two sides have until July 17th to get a deal done, and Barkley has said that he would sit the season out if the two do not come to terms.

Does Barkley and the Giants agree before July 17th?
