Only a few months into the season it’s important to not jump to any conclusions. However, for these three teams, the optimism of a potential playoff birth is too sweet not to sink their teeth into.

We start this list with the Pittsburgh Pirates. A young energetic team anchored by veteran players. This Pirates team started the season on fire by leading the entire National League with a 16-7 record to start the 2023 campaign. Since then they have tapered off but the dream of returning to the postseason for the first time since 2015 is still at the forefront of the minds of Pirates fans. If they play their cards right, we could see a fairytale ending to the 2023 season for McCutchen and the hopeful Pittsburgh Pirates

Next, we have the Orioles. Currently placed second in an incredibly competitive AL East, this new-look Baltimore team has the tools and the play style to make a lot of noise come October. Last appearing in the playoffs seven years ago in 2016, in a loss to the Bluejays in the wildcard round, the Orioles have completely turned over their roster. Leaving guys like, Adam Jones, Manny Machado, and Kevin Gausman in the past and setting their sights on their news stars like Adley Rutchsman, Gunnar Henderson, and Cedric Mullins looking to lead this young Orioles team to new heights in 2023.

Finally, there is one player that all baseball fans are rooting for to make it back to the playoffs. That player is non-other than Mike Trout.

The baseball world is yearning to see Trout and Ohtani make magic on our tv screens in October. Last making the playoffs in 2014, the Angels have repeatedly disappointed its fan base and have deprived us of seeing some of baseball’s best players on the biggest stage. Currently placing 2nd in the AL West and accompanied in the Wild Card column with a plethora of AL East teams the Angels will need to stay competitive until the last regular season game if they want a chance to break their streak and finally dance in October once again.

Do you think these teams will break their playoff droughts?

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
