After the Carolina Panthers acquired Baker Mayfield from the Cleveland Browns, the Panthers eventually determined Mayfield was the starter following their competition , in the preseason.

During week 12, Darnold was named starter to face the Denver Broncos.

This off-season, Sam Darnold, signed with the San Francisco 49ers, and on Tuesday, a report by Dov Kleiman, stated that Darnold will “push” to start week 1 over Trey Lance.

Will the NFL see a completely different side of Darnold? Teams seem to believe so.

Time will only tell though if this change of scenery helps out Darnold.
