The Pirates drafted Andrew McCutchen 11th Overall (Round 1) in the 2005 MLB Amateur draft. McCutchen made his MLB debut in 2009 against the New York Mets, going 2 for 4, with 3 runs scored and an RBI in the Pirates 11-6 win.
Cutch went on to play 9 more seasons with the Pirates, before finding himself on the San Francisco Giants roster in 2018. In those 9 seasons, Cutch batted .291, with 203 home runs and 725 RBIs. While McCutchen was in San Fran he batted .255, with 15 home runs and 55 RBIs, he was later sent to the New York Yankees for his final 25 games of the 2018 campaign, where he ended the year with the Yanks batting .253, with 5 home runs and 10 RBIs.
From 2019 to 2021, Cutch was with the Philadelphia Phillies, staying fairly consistent, he batted .238, with 47 home runs and 143 RBIs. Then in 2022, he played a single season in Milwaukee, batting .237, with 17 hone runs and 69 RBIs.
Many people thought that would be the 36 year old centerfielders last season in the big leagues, guess again.. Cutch went back to Pittsburgh, where I can now believe that it will be his final season, ending his 15 year career where it all started, bringing his career full circle.
McCutchen has been having mediocre numbers so far this season, batting .234, with 6 home runs and 16 RBIs, playing in 32 games. Which many can argue that is still pretty impressive for a guy of his age in the Major Leagues.
I love seeing McCutchen back in Pittsburgh where the fans love him and it seems it is where he belongs.
