This past weekend, on Sunday May 7th, NASCAR Cup Series race, The AdventHealth 400, at Kansas Motor Speedway, Fedex sponsored driver Denny Hamlin took the checkered flag. Hamlin was fighting back with about 50 laps remaining in the race, with Kyle Larson leading the way. On the final lap, Hamlin bumped Larson, which caused him to steer into the outside wall, and Hamlin passed him and took the win at Kansas.
Unfortunately, Hamlin aggressive driving is not what made the headlines. Ross Chastain and Noah Gragson seemed to have some disagreements to say the least. Gragson seemed to be very upset with the way Chastain was driving against him. There was a moment in the race where Chastain seemed to pinch Gragson into the outside wall.
After the race, on pit road, Gragson and Chastain were seen having a heated discussion. Then Gragson, grabbed Chastain by his fire suit, and you can see Chastain mouthing “Stop, Stop, Stop” until Chastain threw a RIGHT HOOK FOR THE AGES! Chastain’s right hook connected to Gragson left cheek.
After the punch was thrown, there was a lot of just trying to separate the two drivers, with Gragson trying to get back to Chastain for some revenge.
What makes it even better, Chastain and Gragson are teammates! This is definitely going to be awkward moving forward.
There hasn’t been any announcements as far as punishment for the two drivers, my personal opinion, I think Gragson was “punished” enough. LOL!
