The Cleveland Browns completed their 2023 NFL Draft by adding 7 new players. Cleveland had no first or second round draft picks, but the team did add to key positions and made a major value pick according to PFF and Mel Kiper Jr.

Here are the picks with analysis:

Round 3 Pick 11 (74) Cedric Tillman WR Tennessee – The Browns already upgraded their wide receiver room this offseason with the additions of Elijah Moore and Marquise Goodwin but adding a big time catch maker with speed (4.5) in Tillman will make QB Deshaun Watson happy. He was the Volunteers best receiver the past two seasons and has a big framed body who can make all the catches. Grade A

Round 3 Pick 35 (98) Siaki Ika DT Baylor – Newly hired defensive coordinator, Jim Schwartz is definitely putting his stamp on this Cleveland defense with the addition of Siaki Ika. The defensive tackle from Baylor is a beefy 335 lbs. His nickname is “Apu” and comes from the movie Aladdin. The Browns hope he can be a mischievous disruptor in the middle against opposing o-lineman. Grade B

Round 4 Pick 9 (111) Dawand Jones OT Ohio State – The Browns who usually shy away from Buckeyes decided to draft two, the first time since 1965 that this feat has occurred. The massive right tackle who started all 13 games last season for Ohio State will provide line depth and can possibly be Jack Conklin’s eventual replacement. Grade B

Round 4 Pick 24 (126) Isaiah McGuire DE Missouri – In Cleveland it’s been Myles Garrett on one side and on the other…..guys. I’m not saying Isaiah McGuire is going to be an All-Pro by any means but he seems like a sleeper pick who can make some noise in the league. McGuire has elite length, along with explosiveness, that should help against newly resigned Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson. Grade A-

Round 5 Pick 5 (140) Dorian Thompson-Robinson QB UCLA – The dynamic Bruins QB holds school records for completions, attempts, passing yards, and touchdowns. I understand why GM Andrew Berry wants a backup QB, that can play dynamic like Deshaun Watson and also in case of injury the style of the offense can remain the same but the Browns already have Josh Dobbs and they have other holes they could have addressed. Grade C

Round 5 Pick 7 (142) Cameron Mitchell CB Northwestern – Mitchell is versatile and could be the answer at slot for the Browns. He forces incompletions and is accostumed to playing man coverage, which Jim Schwartz favors. Mitchell reunites with his fellow Northwestern Wildcat Greg Newsome. Grade B

Round 6 Pick 13 (190) Luke Wypler C Ohio State – The second Buckeye taken by Cleveland, Luke Wypler, could be a steal for the Browns. PFF had Wypler as the 54th-ranked player and Mel Kiper of ESPN said Wypler could have gone two rounds earlier. Grade A

I know, I know grading players that have not even taken a snap in the NFL is meaningless, but I hope you found some entertainment value reading this, but also I hope my grading is right because that would mean the Cleveland Browns got better, B+ better.
