The NFL kicked off day 1 Thursday night in Kansas City with NFL teams trying to make themselves better to become Super Bowl Champions like the Chiefs are currently.
One thing about the NFL Draft is the immediate grading that goes on over the selections and the endless lists of “winners and losers” that goes out as well.
I could bemoan those lists and state that it’s almost impossible to list winners and losers without the players actually playing but instead I’ll join those annoying list makers and make my own. Feel free to think I’m just as annoying.
Winners:
C.J. Stroud – with leaks of his low cognitive test score he went number two overall to the Texans and will compete for the starting job.
Running backs – with Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs going 8th and 12th respectively it shows that some GM’s still value the position.
Philadelphia Eagles – the Eagles or should I call them Georgia North landed two more Bulldogs in Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith.
Bryce Young – if you get selected first overall you are a winner, period
Anthony Richardson – picked before Levis and Hooker, this project QB will get to work with Shane Steichen who developed Justin Herbert and Jalen Hurts.
Losers:
Tight Ends – only one taken in the first round, Dalton Kincaid by the Bills.
Dallas Cowboys – took Mazi Smith of Michigan when they needed a tight end. Smith stops the run but needs to develop better in the pass rush.
Packers – new QB but drafting remains the same. Needed another WR but took a defensive lineman, Lukas Van Ness.
Will Levis – projected by most to be a day one selection he is still on the board.
Gia Duddy- Will Levis’ girlfriend is not a loser in the looks and fashion department but makes the list because she had to sit in the green room next to Will all night.
So there you have it, my list of “winners and losers” for the NFL Draft Day One. I now feel like a loser for making it, hopefully you feel like a winner reading it.
