As the 2022-23 Cleveland Cavaliers season winds down, it’s never too early to talk next season.

A 50 win season ends on a sour note as the Knicks pull away in Game 5 and capped off a series where the Cavs were dominated inside and out. The Knicks being 6 deep at guard/wing position and Cavs fans were calling for Danny Green after Game 2. Not a great combo.

The part where I pulled the hair out was Mitchell Robinson making Jarrett Allen look useless and Evan Mobley no showing.

Koby Altman might win Executive of the Year and have the most difficult off-season he’s ever faced at the same time.

If Jarrett Allen can’t box out Robinson, you assume his value against the Bam Adebayo’s and Anthony Davis’ of the world. It’s not worth 20 million a year. Trading Allen has to be on the table.

LaVert is gone. Great. You can check on Okoro’s value but him off the bench might be more useful than the return in a trade. Cedi is an expiring contract. If the ring on Nick Nurse’s hand intrigues you, there may be a new head coach.

In any trade they will have to match money. Unless they acquire one via another team first, no firsts to trade. The Cavs will have a mid-level exception that should be used to solidify the wing or address Allen’s minutes should he be traded for a wing instead.

October to April no one thought this playoff series would show the Cavs being so sluggish. Now it’s time for the solution if you want to win a series. All eyes on you Koby.
