In 2019, Cody Bellinger was darn near unstoppable. During his MVP campaign, he slashed .305/.406/.629 with 47 bombs and was an absolute problem for pitchers all year long. However, this success was short-lived as he never hit over .239 in his next three seasons. Bellinger’s struggles, instead of landing him a long-term mega-deal, with the Dodgers, road him out of Los Angeles once his contract expired.

This constant mediocrity shown by the former MVP forced Bellinger into a one-year prove-it deal with the Chicago Cubs. Hoping to have a big year after signing his one-year, 17.5 million dollar deal, Bellinger is off to a hot start.

Posting a very similar slash line as his MVP season, delivering a .301/.381/.562, Bellinger seems to be getting back on track. While he’s only played in 19 games thus far, it’s great to see Cody revert back to his old form. He’s been a major part in the Cub’s quick 12-7 start and if the former MVP keeps up this pace, he could be a pivotal piece in a potential October run.

Will Cody Bellinger continue his possible MVP-caliber season?

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
